Table art. Wall art. Art art

I changed my dining area table top from late summer harvest-y colors finally to something a little more holiday-ish. I went with gold, red, and black and white with black toile, and later that day I hung this newly-framed signed and numbered print called "Taksaka." It all matches beautifully. I call it my falliday table. I figured I can leave it until after Valentine's Day if I'm feeling particularly lazy in the decorating department. I used to change my tabletop monthly. This is my apartment in Columbia, not my house in Leesburg. Happy Fallidays!

Little Pieces of Me

Pictured above and below are a few shots from around my house that I was inspired to share after seeing fellow blogger Kari Ramstrom of MN http://artsymama@blogspot.com/ published in the November issue of Romantic Country. How exciting for her!

Call me weird, but I like to keep my table set so I can enjoy my dishes, table linens and candles and rearranging them with the seasons. Since my kitchen is mustard and cranberry, this setting works about half the year. Then I like to go all white in the late winter/spring, and I also like to break out the silver and gold and maroon for the holidays.

The bowl of potpourri in the living room was an unfinished paper or bamboo bowl from TJ Maxx that I painted brown and turquoise. The word stones and glass pebbles came from Pottery Barn in a silver bowl/candle holder thingy I got on after-holiday clearance at Bath and Body Works for something like $2. Gotta love a sale!

The shells and bottles of sand go with my nautical/neutral bathroom and the little Halloween tableaus with grinning vintage ghouls and Peanuts are just temporary kitchen decor.

On A Cleaning High!

That great feeling when the whole house is clean always seems to give me some crazy endorphin/ aerobic rush. So after finishing all the dirty work I decided to take some pics of my favorite little tableaus to remind myself how much I enjoy being able to look at a clean, pleasant, cozy house and to surround myself with things I love. Next adventure is to bake some cupcakes and pumpkin cobbler for a party tomorrow!
